A Thomson Reuters company, Super Lawyers® evaluates legal professionals from more than 70 areas of legal practice. A representative number of attorneys from small, medium and large firms serving various regions of the United States are selected to provide individuals with a reliable resource to find renowned legal help near them.
Rising Stars recognition is reserved for early career attorneys either in the first 10 years of legal practice or no older than the age of 40. Super Lawyers® is also the name of the other directory curated by the same organization, but it is reserved for mid- to late-career legal professionals. To earn either recognition, attorneys must go through a rigorous selection process in addition to being nominated for consideration by a third party or identified by the Super Lawyers® Research Team.
The selection process comprises two separate reviews, the first being an in-depth examination of a dozen facets of an attorney’s career, from settlements and verdicts obtained on behalf of their clients to awards and accolades, to bar activity, community work, and scholarly contributions, among others. The second review is a reevaluation of these attorneys conducted by a Blue Ribbon Panel, which the highest-scoring Super Lawyers® candidates thus far serve on. To ensure accuracy, each panelist only evaluates candidates within their area of legal practice, rating them on a scale of one to five.
Due to the exhaustive nature of the Super Lawyers® and Rising Stars selection process — as well as the fact that only 2.5% of all the nation’s early career attorneys obtain Rising Stars recognition annually — it is an outstanding achievement to be selected three years in a row, like Attorney Peek.
